VOICE PROJECTION
Hello, welcome to a new entry :)
This week we will discuss the importance of the voice because our voice projection will allow our audience to hear and understand us more easily. It will help build our confidence as a speaker, give us a natural authority, and help us hold attention. But it isn't as simple as just shouting or straining your voice to be louder.
The teacher asked us to perform different activities to practice our voice projection, we started with IMITATION, where we had to imitate a man, a woman, and a child. For me, the most difficult part was to imitate a man, because they have a stronger voice.
Here we are in groups doing this practice:
For us as interpreters, it’s so essential to understand how to use voice projection properly because we must speak a lot when we are doing interpretation, and of course, we want to sound natural/clear and deliver the message in a nice way. I personally have to work a lot on my voice but one of my goals will practice exercises like the ones that we performed in the classroom to sound more professional.
I hope you enjoy reading this entry and if you have any questions about the voice projection please let me know.
With love, Kat
